It is crazy how we want to accomplish so much in one day or rather we have to accomplish in one day. There is cooking, cleaning, laundry, office work, taking care of children, so on and so forth. So yes, some of us are truly very busy, but busy enough to jeopardize our health?? Not really.
It is a myth that you need to have one hour spare to work-out or you need to have a gym membership to stay fit. We can easily incorporate a few mini workout sessions in our routine schedule if planned well. Below is a compilation of workout ideas from all the super busy people and if they can, so can you!!
Double up your household chores as workouts: Every chore that needs you to move, bend or stretch has the potential to be converted into a very efficient workout. A topic so vast, with so many variations, and my favorite hack for busy days deserved a blog post of its own. Check it out here.
Choose your commute wisely: If you are lucky and can walk or cycle to your workplace, nothing like it. If it’s relatively far and you travel by car/ subway you can get off one stop early or park a few blocks away and walk the rest of the way.
Take the stairs, always: A statement so common, heard by everyone at least once in their lifetime. And by all means, worth it. It’ll save you the waiting period for the lift, and give your legs a little workout, every single day.
Go on workout dates: You need to exercise, and so does your partner. Ditch the fancy dinner dates and movie nights, instead plan a hike together, go for a swimming session, or maybe cycle in that park down the lane. There are crazy fun things you can do to have a good time together and get fit at the same time!!
Utilize your down-time: It is an amazing feeling when you get done with your day and sit on the couch for your favorite sitcom. Aha …got ya, however busy, most people find some time in the day to relax and enjoy their couch time. But if you can do that, you can exercise too, so make it a point to do a few jumping jacks and maybe a few squats before resting that butt.
Go for ultra-efficient short workouts: Opt for high-intensity short exercises like Tabata, circuit training, HIIT, swimming or sprinting. These, when followed religiously, will give you outcomes as effective as 6 hours of moderate workout in the gym.
Do more than just eating in your lunch break: Most of us are entitled to a longer lunch break than we need to have our food. Use that time to go for a walk, or do chairside yoga and spot exercises. It cannot replace a gym session per se, but something is better than nothing!!
Club workout with everything possible: Go wild with your imagination, you’re planning for a holiday, no problem, instead of just laying on the beaches consider going for a hiking trip, you plan to meet up your friends, go for a swim together, or maybe a Zumba class, you want to have girls night out, put dancing on the list.
If you have some more fun work-out ideas, do put them down in the comment section, we could all use a little more creativity for a healthier lifestyle.
